Kindle Account Sharing

How do you share books on a kindle if your on the same account?
My parents got me and my brother a kindle for Christmas but wont let us get any books until we figure out how to share between them because they dont want to pay for a book more than once. Can you help me out!?
I’ve got 2 ideas for you.
1. Register 2 Kindles to the same account. I think Amazon allows that, and they do allow multiple copies of the same book to be shared on different devices under the same account, like a Kindle and a PC.
2. Download the newly purchased books to your computer. Then use the USB cable to drag and drop those books to each Kindle.
