Amazon public libraries plan for kindle users

According to China wholesale ePathChina reports, yesterday Amazon announced a plan vibrating the whole industry that Later this year, it will launch “Amazon public libraries Plan” , and then Kindle users will be able to borrow books free of charge from more than ten thousand digital libraries in the U.S..

 

In terms of borrowing books from Digital Library, Amazon has already lagged behind Sony, Barnes & Noble and other competitors. According to industry experts, Kindle has as many as 7.5 million U.S. users and Amazon.com has been in control of two thirds of the 1 billion digital book market

 

In this scheme, Amazon will build cooperation with American professional industry company – OverDrive which specializes in developing digital book borrowing system and Cooperates with many U.S. libraries to provide book borrowing service for Sony, Kobo and Nook readers users.Informed sources from China epathchina company said, Kindle users will be able to borrow a total of 300,000 kinds of digital books and audio books.

 

In New York, Chicago and San Francisco, public libraries have already begun to provide digital books borrowing service. Readers do not need to visit the library by themselves and just download the digital books from the library sites.But the books can not personally be owned, they are usually to be returned in two weeks or three weeks.

 

Libraries which provide digital book borrowing service, itself alsio need to buy more copies of digital books. And just like printing books, the digital book can only be lent to a reader at a time.
