Kindle Broken Screen Warranty

I have an Amazon Kindle 3 and I think its almost 6 months old?
But I am not sure when I actually bought it and can’t seem to find any proof anywhere. Well recently the screen in my kindle broke- I tried all ways, restarting them, even to the point of opening the back cover of the Kindle- Not sure if it voids the warranty. Well now I want to know if Amazon will replace my Kindle since its already 6 months but still covered by warranty- I think
if it’s still under warranty there shouldn’t be a problem, one way you could prove it’s age is if you’ve still kept the order confirmation or dispatch emails, as these would contain your unique order number
