Computer keeps crashing, need to make Back up CD of all things on my computer, How?

My brand new HP computer pc keeps crashing, and I am going to have to return it. However, I have already put personal things on here that I need to keep, such as all of my “Kindle Books,” (some are from amazon.com, some are from other places). And I have pictures, videos, software, and other things I need to have on it. Will making a back up cd on the computer save all of these things I have on it so far (so I can put them on a another computer)?

download and burn a copy of Ubuntu on another computer, put the CD into your drive on your pc, press F12 when you boot the computer (or which ever key will give you the boot menu, if you can’t find the right key you can go into the BIOS and change the boot priority) from the boot menu select your CD drive, when the Ubuntu screen comes up select “Run from CD” or something like that (don’t worry nothing will be written to your hard drive), once Ubuntu is up and running, click on “Places” and locate your hard drive, single click and you should be offered the option to “Mount” the drive once this is done you can access the information on it, plug in a large enough flash/thumb drive (again you mau have to mount it) and simply copy all the files you want onto that drive.
