kindle users, help! Can u share books?

I am planning on buying a kindle. Here is the question.
I and my brother share interest in similar books. If he has the kindle app on his laptop and I have the kindle. We log in using same email address. Then if I buy a book can he too read it on his laptop application? And vice versa?
Now, we both endup buying copies since we stay on different continents and shipping is not worth it.
This seems like an ideal solution. Although expensive that a paperback, ebooks on amazon are cheaper than 2 paperbacks.

You can have six devices on the same account. Generally, the books will also be licensed for 6 books (I haven’t come across any that are less, though technically they can be). So you could have both your kindle and your brother’s pc on the same account with no problems. The only catch to this is that you of course would need to have your credit card registered to the account and all the purchases are one-click so you can’t chose which credit card you’d have to change the settings before purchasing if you wanted to switch. So obviously you need to trust each other, but other than that it shouldn’t be a problem. Both my husband and I have a kindle and we regularly read the same books at the same time. It’s nice to not be fighting over who gets a book first now
