Lets Keep a Neat Stock of Your Firewood by Using Firewood Racks

Keeping stock of firewood for the winter months need not look like a complete disaster. The firewood you have should be kept organized and secured above the ground. You simply can’t leave them lying in total chaos outdoors because there are some things that you have to consider when storing these pieces of wood. You have to keep them off the ground and you can’t place them against the wall of the house. A great way therefore to keep stock of your firewood is by using some firewood racks.

Firewood racks can put all your logs and woods in a neat pile. Usually they are constructed from rectangular steel tubing that can conveniently hold a lot of chopped wood weight. These racks are often designed to have slats that are elevated off the ground so that the wood wouldn’t absorb moisture from the ground. It is important that the firewood is kept dry so that they will kindle easily with fire when you need them. Besides, wet firewood will give out a lot of smoke and you don’t want that in the confines of your own home. They will also attract lots of pests like termites and other insects. This is also one of the reasons why a pile of wood is never recommended to be stacked up against the walls of the homes.

Firewood racks are available in a variety of materials. You can have a steel tubing to match your modern outdoor space. However if you want to complement the look of your cabin, then you can have a log style firewood rack. They also come in different shapes. You can have ones in hoops or in a caddy-like shape if you find the rectangular units very simple. You can also avail them in various sizes depending on how much firewood you are going to stock during the winter. These racks also come with matching covers to keep the firewood dry and protect your pile from heavy rains or snowstorms.
