What is the Hunger Games about? and Incarceron?

I’m 19 by the way and my 8 year old cousin tried reading “The Hunger Games.” I didn’t understand the first chapter and my cousin wasn’t really interested either so we gave up on it. I just want a summary and no spoilers. I just think if someone who read it could explain what its about then I would be more compelled to finish reading it. If it interests me.

I also tried reading “Incarceron” on my kindle device and I’m upset because its too late to send it back for a refund. I really would like to get into this story but I’m confused. If you could give a summary for this too I would be forever greatful lol

I’m not sure I would let an 8 year old read Hunger Games, to be honest. It’s got some pretty graphic violence.

Here’s the rundown: A sadistic dictatorship rules over 12 districts, and every year to quell rebellion, each District must send a boy and a girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to an arena where they fight to the death gladiator-style on national television. Katniss, a girl from District 12, volunteers to go after her little sister’s name is called from the reaping ball, along with a boy named Peeta. And that’s all I can say without spoiling. It’s a fantastic series, I highly recommend it.

Never read Incarceron, but it’s on my To-Read list. I hear it’s good. Sometimes you just gotta persevere through that first chapter or two before the action picks up.
