Nintendo 3DS: is it worth it?

I have a Nintnedo DSi and I use it a lot. I was actually considering the Nintendo DSi XL but it turns out it was just bigger. What new features come with the 3DS? Will there be new games? My personal favorite is Mario Kart. This may be a dumb question but: Can old DS games work with the new 3DS? I have an iPod Touch and recently bought the Amazon Kindle but I don’t want to waste money on the Nintendo 3DS if it’s not really anything new. Thanks so much for your answers!

It is completely backwards compatible so that means it can play all DS games. The top screen is a 3D screen that you don’t need glasses for. There are these Augmented Reality Cards you can use with it that sort of put things out in the real world that you can see through the screen. I’m not sure if the network is up yet but it has online capabilities with wi-fi and you’re going to be able to buy past GBC and GB games (no word on GBA games). Personally I’m waiting at least a year because I think $250 is a bit ridiculous for handheld entertainment, but if you are willing to spend that much go right ahead.
