Taking On IPhone Is Kindle For Android – Is Android Tablet Next?

Amazon announced that Kindle is going Android. Amazon is teaming up with Google to give the iPhone a run for its money in e-reader functionality. The Kindle is already being offered by Amazon on BlackBerry devices, Mac OS X, Windows, the iPad, and on the iPhone. Android already sells Amazon music and streaming movies with built-in apps. Kindle on the Android isn’t a surprise except that it took so long to happen. Some say an Android tablet could be next.

Downloads are a key advantage of Kindle for Android. Fortune reports that Google’s Android environment, as open as quick payday loans compared to Apple’s, allows continuous Kindle for Android downloads. Into Android the Kindle bookstore was built by Amazon into seamlessly. Kindle books can be read on iPhone, but when users want to buy an Amazon book on an iPhone, they need to do a lot of work in getting it. Optimized for the Android phone with wireless delivery, users can buy e-books from the kindle store. Free book samples give users the beginnings of books to try before they buy. Kindle newspapers, magazines and blogs won’t be available on Kindle for Android.

Is an Android tablet next?

Beginning May 19, the Kindle for Android announcement precedes the Google I/O conference. Clint Boulton at eWeek reports that most of the buzz leading up to the event centers on Android. One thing that seems certain to launch at Google I/O is Android 2.2 Android 2.2 will give Kindle for Android a speed increase from previous operating systems. Android based tablets are also something that is expected to be talked about. Verizon has confirmed it is working with Google on an Android-based tablet.
