Spain’s Architectural Development Through the Centuries

Architecture states a lot about a country’s culture; there are so many interesting details to discover like when were the first structures made and what do they appear, what kind of foreign inspirations were at work with the changes in the architectural structures of the country, and how well the government has the government protected these architectural treasures. It’s just that architectural structures can effortlessly be lost through wars, through the pillages of time, and by crafting way to the structures of a new era. You’ll find it pretty exciting that they’ve even managed to preserve structures that were made many centuries before Christ; most of them can even be judged as well-preserved.

Preparing for a vacation in another country could differ depending on what country you will go to, but there are general similarities that you can remember. Take note of the season in the country you are visiting so that you can dress suitably, take note of the cultural disparities that your own country has with the country that you want to visit, and take note of the language that they speak in that country so that you’ll at least know what to expect in terms of communication. A better way to find great deals and better travelling plans when you are in Spain is by asking the locals; yes a lot of them understand English, but there’s an advantage if you know how to speak Spanish which can be arranged by learning through sites like Rocket Spanish. Rocket Spanish or Bust can help you learn the Spanish language as it employs various study methods for a very effective learning experience.

It’s quite amazing that some of the oldest architectural structures consist of manmade buildings dated back to as far as the Bronze Age. Spain’s existing historic structural designs comprise something that dates as far back as the Bronze Age; the structures in the Balearic Islands are probably the best-preserved structures symbolic of that time. Structures in this place are generally comprise of tombs and burial sites with different geometric shapes; there are also similar structures in the area which still exist and are still well-preserved, and they are used as protective structures much like watch towers.

During the worldwide conquests of Rome, Spain also came under their power and therefore started the heavy Roman influence on Spanish architecture and culture. In terms of burial grounds, Spain became more traditional in the sense that burial grounds, catacombs, and the likes were erected. One of the most stable and well-preserved testaments of Roman influence is the Aqueduct of Segovia which still stands until today.

As Spain becomes more changed by French and German styles of architecture, buildings verged on a more Gothic type of influence. The construction of the Cathedral of Avila welcomed the beginning of a new epoch in the architectural culture of Spain. This cathedral is the primary gothic structure built in the country.

There are more places that can get you better aware of the history of Spain through its architecture. Going to Spain may very well be one of the defining moments in your life, especially if you immerse yourself in cultural studies while you are there.
