Kindle Laptop Reader
e-readers: what are they?
I asked this question earlier but may have put it in the wrong category. Anyway, all I got were advertisements and unrelated remarks. So I am going to try once again, only because it means that much to me and I really want some help.
I am considering purchasing a Kindle or similar piece of equipment. I have been looking at several – on line only. I have some questions because I am technologically ignorant and I need help.
1) What does 3G mean? My desktop has 3GB DDRS. Does the 3G for an e-reader equate to 3GB on a computer?
2) Free 3G + Wi-Fi: Does this mean I can link up to the entire internet with no wired connection?
3) Will I have as much freedom to browse on a machine like the e-reader as I do on my laptop?
4) Are e-readers actually computers or is the included Wi-Fi strictly for accessing book sellers and downloading books?

3G refers to wireless technology (3d generation)
2) Free 3G + Wi-Fi: Does this mean I can link up to the entire internet with no wired connection?
Means you can have access wherever there is either a 3G (wireless) or Wi-fi connection.
3) Will I have as much freedom to browse on a machine like the e-reader as I do on my laptop?
No. Depends on the e-reader, but most have limited browsing capabilities.
4) Are e-readers actually computers or is the included Wi-Fi strictly for accessing book sellers and downloading books?
No, you can just read books, magazines, etc. You have very limited editing capabilities.
