Want some smart family fun? Build a mess.

“Youngsters love a smart mess and a large number is typically a sign of a good time,” says award-winning author Donna Erickson. Simple activities like enjoying in a huge pile of leaves or splashing in puddles when a day shower become family traditions that kids remember.

Families can fancy endless indoor fun, too, while not giving messes a second thought. Erickson’s favorite activity this point of year is creating apple-cinnamon clay. Adults and youngsters will kindle this uncommon concoction to form ornamental, aromatic ornaments or cool jewelry.

Apple-Cinnamon Clay

What you’ll would like:

1/2 half applesauce

1/two half cinnamon

Mixing bowl

a pair of sheets of waxed paper

Rolling pin

Cookie cutter shapes of all sizes

Mix equal parts of cinnamon and applesauce together. For a tiny batch, use one/2 cup of each. If the mixture becomes too sticky, add a lot of cinnamon; if it’s too stiff, add more applesauce. Scoop onto a bit of waxed paper. Place the additional sheet on top.
