A handheld eBook reader is a must-have for every book lover. Anyone who has ever moved to a new home knows how surprisingly heavy books are. This is a burden readers have lived with for years. Imagine how nice it would be if an entire library of books weighed about half a pound.

E-books will become the future of publishing. One of the features of the eBook is the lack of paper. This has obvious environmental benefits. In this age, many have begun to worry about renewable resources. The eBook has reduced the need for one of these resources, which is good news for trees.

The public sees three predominant competitors in the ebook market. Competition in the market has turned ebook readers into amazing devices, with awesome features. Even though ebooks have not been around very long, the devices are getting better and better.

Ebooks have the ability to simulate the look of real ink on real paper. This breakthrough is possible because of the technology known as e-ink. These displays need a lamp or other source of light, because they do not have back-lighting. This makes them more like real books.

One nice feature of these displays is that they do not bother your eyes the way other electronic displays might. Plus, the e-ink makes the screen seem similar to normal paper, but it has a secret weapon. The size of words can be adjusted, depending whether a reader would like bigger words or smaller.

The Amazon Kindle has the largest market presence right now. This device comes in one of two different sizes. It uses a complimentary wireless network to place orders and download books.

One of the stronger competitors to Amazon’s Kindle is the Sony Reader. The Reader is less expensive than the Kindle. However, the Sony eBook store is not as large as Amazon’s.

The newest device on the market is the Barnes and Noble Nook. The Nook is a powerful device, and many speculate that it will dethrone the Kindle. Barnes and Noble has a larger selection of books. Plus, the Nook has the first color touch screen on an eBook reader. This makes it a very stylish and practical choice for book lovers.

There are many reasons for book lovers to be happy. It is no longer necessary to haul heavy books every time you move. You can carry thousands of books on a handheld ebook reader, and they won’t even weigh as much as one hardcover book.
