Kindle Prc File Format

Is there a free to use program that makes text and other file formats into Amazon .prc files? It has to be PRC
I’m looking for a good, easy-to-use, freeware program that I can use to make basic file formats such as .txt, .html, etc into the .prc file format. PRC files are commonly associated with Palms and the Amazon Kindle Reader. I’m very surprised to not find something so easily do to the fact that the Kindle Reader has been relatively very popular lately.
Everything I’ve seen so far seems to be an out-dated application from 5 years ago. And please, it’s important to make it into .prc file format and nothing else. I’m trying to avoid the other file types.
The main reason it has to be PRC, for those asking, is because I’m using Mobipocket software and .prc is highly recommended for its use.
thanks for the additional details here is a forum on mobipocket that explains it well http://www.mobipocket.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4095&sid=494a2df12b48a1e8fdca8ae0e7bfb752
