Amazon Kindle – are they licensed by country?
I’m a Brit living in Spain. I’m interested in getting a Kindle so I can, for example, read the British papers and download books in English. Sounds simple but it may not be. For example Windows only licenses its Spanish-language products to be sold in Spain. So, before I order a Kindle, I’d really like to hear from anyone who has already bought one from the UK and can re-assure me it works in another country.

I am no expert, but I do know you do not require a computer (therefore Windows) to use the Kindle.
If you care to contact Amazon, they will clarify the situation for you. I have found them to be extremely helpful. You will also find a great deal of information on the Amazon UK website.
I have the Kindle wifi and I love using it. The Kindle 3G might be more useful for you since you live abroad.
