I need opinions about the “Kindle” (the new wireless reading device)?

I think this thing is so cool! You can download over 1,000 books or something along with the newspaper, music etc

Now, I want other peoples opinion about the Kindle! Tell me anything!

Personally, I believe this will be the next thing that every college student will have! Instead of buying those 100 dollar or more books and lug them around to class, could you imagine just downloading them on your Kindle for less than half the cost and just carrying that around!?

(if you dont know anything about the Kindle it was created by the guy who created Amazon)

Right now, I have eReader on my iPhone.

I’m not a fan of the Kindle. I already own a lot of e-books, but to put them on the Kindle I’d have to repurchase them through the Amazon service. I think that’s ridiculous. It’s a great concept, but it just isn’t there yet.

I’d love to have an e-book reader, but I’m holding out until there’s one that offers the Kindle’s functionality without trying to rip me off.

That’s like blaming Apple because the iPod has a proporietary format. But it also takes mp3s. If they other provider had a proprietary format and didn’t give you a universal mp3, that is their fault, not Apple’s.
The Kindle does take PDF files. So, if the person that sold you the book originally gave you a PDF, the Kindle will take it happily. If the originally seller gave you a proprietary format…well, that’s what “proprietary” means. You can’t blame Amazon for that.”

I’m wasn’t talking about proprietary formats. The Kindle’s support of PDF files is still only shaky at best. To convert to the Kindle format, Amazon charges ten cents per conversion, and the conversion quality is still unpredictable. Some files just don’t convert well. The only alternative is to download third party software that I can only run on my Mac with the help of the Windows virtual machine.

I’m not angry about it; I just expect more than experimental support from a device that costs nearly $400 and has such limited functionality.
