Kindle Search Indexes

should I get a Kindle for my college textbooks or is it better to buy the actual books?
I’m trying to get more information on this but I can’t seem to find anything conclusive. On one hand, it will be great to have everything on one tab and not have to carry all those books around. Plus I assume that being electronic, it will have some kind of indexing and search feature so I dont have to flip page to page to find certain information. On the other hand, if it costs the same as the real text, its a loss cuz I can’t resell the books when I’m done using it. And if it breaks, will I be out of all the books I had on there or can I recover it from some database?
I have a Nook, so my experience might be different. There are some textbooks that are cheaper to get the electronic version and more that the resell value is enough to buy the actual text. Most of my books for class aren’t actual textbooks, but are paperbacks so depending on your major/classes you might find more or less. I don’t lose the books if it breaks, I can redownload from Barnes and Noble website. I’m pretty sure I’d lose any notes I had saved on there. Lots of my readings are journal articles rather than books, so I can download the pdfs to my Nook (don’t think you can do that with a Kindle).
Overall, I wouldn’t get an e-reader just for school books, but I think it’s worth it if you’ll use it for leisure reading as well.
