can I charge my kindle with a 220 volt power supply in Vietnam?

I have a travel adaptor, but, it doesn’t convert voltage to 110V. Can the Kindle charge with a 220 Volt source? My kindle is 1st generation.

On my third Kindle in Vietnam and own a book store in Hoi an. Plug your kindle right into the wall socket. It has a built in adapter and will work perfectly. Do not worry. You will not fry the machine. If you are the paranoid type you can always charge it through the computer but the plug is safe and simple. The Kindle is perfect for traveling and I have found that in most Asian countrys they will not even bother to steal it. I do not know if this is because they do not know what it is or that they know that it will not work if stolen. All you have to do is email Amazon and they will lock up the machine from their end. and no one can down load anything from Amazon again with that machine.
Plug it in. its ok!
Also… computer down loads from kindle work simply and easily in Vietnam. That why I purchased them in the first place. Its nice to be able to get the third book of a trilogy in a couple of minutes. its hard to find cutting edge books in Vietnam.
