Kindle Won’t Connect

Amazon Kindle US or International version?

I live in Australia and the international version is out of stock. I need a kindle for christmas. My only concern is whispernet. I most likely won’t be downloading books very often from whispernet because I’ll use it mainly for my PDFs and other ebooks which i’ll download from my computer. I plan on getting the wifi version only so can i still connect and download the odd book here and there (through wifi network)? Thanks v much.
